Abstract

Noncommunicable diseases are linked to poor lifestyle practices and delayed recognition of risk factors. Therefore, this community service activity aims to promote a healthy lifestyle through education and basic health screenings. The program was implemented in Banjar Blahtanah, Keramas Village, Gianyar Regency, using a community-based education approach and participatory empowerment through home visits. Activities included education on clean and healthy living behaviors, health counseling, blood pressure checks, random blood glucose tests, and body mass index (BMI) measurements. Evaluation was conducted descriptively based on the implementation of activities and the results of health screenings. A total of 132 community members underwent blood pressure and body mass index measurements, while 123 individuals underwent random blood glucose testing. The results showed that the majority of participants had body mass index, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels within the normal range. However, some participants were found to have hypertension, hyperglycemia, overweight, and obesity, indicating the presence of risk factors for noncommunicable diseases in the community. The home visit approach also increased community participation and allowed for more personalized health education tailored to each family’s specific circumstances. The findings suggest that integrating education with basic health screenings can be used to raise public awareness of healthy lifestyles and support the early detection of risk factors for noncommunicable diseases in the community.
